You can't have my Sword of Power! » Devlog

Summary
I created this game within 1 week (2025-02-22 to 2025-03-01) for a game jam using Godot 4. This game can be summarized as follows:
- Genre: Action RPG
- Objective: Survive the increasingly difficult onslaught of enemies
- Main Gimmick: The power stations scattered throughout the map recharge your sword, causing it to do more damage. If you don’t recharge your sword, you will only do tiny amounts of damage per hit.
- Core Gameplay:
- WASD (or arrow keys) to move
- SPACE or P to pause
- Kill enemies by touching them with your sword
- Killing enemies awards EXP, which automatically increases your maximum HP and damage when fully charged
- Recharge your sword using the power stations scattered throughout the map
- A fully charged sword will do the most damage, and the damage done scales with charge
- Enemies spawn at certain points across the map and hunt you down using the shortest possible path to your current location
Possible Future Additions
If I ever decide to work on this game in the future, I may add or improve the following:
- Compatibility with Linux and MacOS (currently, the game only works on Windows)
- A game trailer (as a video)
- Start menu
- Ability to save your scores
- More enemy types
- Better collision detection (to make the game feel more fair)
- Enemy damage scaling (currently not implemented, may implement later)
- Player health regeneration and sword length scaling with EXP
- Charging the sword fully could take ~2 seconds (currently, recharging is instantaneous)
- Health regeneration stations that slowly regenerate your health

Personal Goals
My main goals in making this game were as follows:
- Learn Godot
- Ensure I know how to post games to itch.io so I know what to expect when I release a real game
- Bonus points if this game becomes popular, though even if it doesn’t, my main goals have already been accomplished
